Sphere cube projection
WebProjection¶ Flat Flat mapping gives the best results on single planar faces. It does produce interesting effects on the sphere, but compared to a sphere-mapped sphere the result looks flat. On faces that are not in the mapping plane the last pixel of the texture is extended, which produces stripes on the cube and cylinder. WebApr 26, 2024 · The stereographic projection is a mapping (function) that projects a sphere onto a plane. The projection is defined on the entire sphere, except the point at the top of the sphere. For the object below, the curves on the sphere cast shadows, mapping them to a straight line grid on the plane.

The first is that the mapping consists of projecting the sphere onto the faces of an inscribed cube using a curvilinear projection that preserves area. The sphere is divided into six equal regions, which correspond to the faces of the cube.
